Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz Faces Death Threats in Email

Malik Riaz, who is the owner of Bahria Town, has been in the news a lot lately due to corruption scandals highlighted by NAB, the Al Qadir Trust case verdict, the Karachi Bahria Town scandal highlighted by SC, and other issues. However, this time Malik Riaz was receiving threats via email on January 27th.

Email was demanding extortion for payment of 50 bitcoin, which is equal to almost 1.42 billion PKR, and he was also given death threats in case of nonpayment of extortion.

It is suspected that the email has been generated from Pakistan while it is claimed to be from Switzerland. Khalilur Rehman, who is the vice CEO of Bahria Town, took matters seriously and registered the incident at Aabpara Police Station located in Islamabad and complained to the police and requested that they should take strict action against the culprit.

He said that if the extortion money is not paid on time, then the culprits could harm the Malik Riaz family claimed by Khalilur Rehman. Authorities are taking these matters seriously, and an investigation has started and tracing emails from where they originated.
