Starlink gets a Temporary License To Operate In Pakistan

Elon Musk's Starlink got a temporary NOC from the IT ministry to operate in Pakistan, which was confirmed by the IT minister himself. IT minister Shaza Fatima stated that Pakistan had been given a temporary NOC and license to Starlink to operate in Pakistan, and it was issued on the instruction of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The statement says that “Starlink has been issued a temporary NOC with the consensus of all security and regulatory agencies,” Fatima was quoted as saying. “Starlink’s arrival in Pakistan will mark the formal launch of satellite internet services.” “The Prime Minister has directed that the internet system in Pakistan should be improved,” Fatima said. “Modern solutions like satellite internet will improve connectivity in the country.”

Pakistan's IT minister expects that Starlink will boost competition in Pakistan and the service quality of other internet service broadband will be improved as well once Starlink is officially functional in Pakistan. Moreover, Starlink has grabbed a lot of attention due to its unique way of providing internet service. Traditionally, internet connectivity depends on fiber and copper wire. However, Elon Musk changed the whole concept, and now he is providing internet services via satellite, which has its merits and demerits. One of the major merits is that the internet coverage is everywhere, and there is no place on earth where Starlink cannot provide its service, and the major demerit is its high prices.

Moreover, it is expected that Starlink will take a year to start operating in Pakistan because of bureaucratic delays, regulatory framework delays, and other delays that are expected because Starlink is a new technology that will require profound analysis to start operating in Pakistan.

Additionally, Elon Musk's Starlink can help Pakistan's Internet global ranking regarding Internet service and Internet speed, which is one of the lowest rankings globally, and it also improves Internet services in Pakistan. It is welcome news from the PM of Pakistan that they have given a temporary NOC to Starlink, which attracts FDI and also brings much-needed foreign investment to Pakistan.
